46The Atacama Desert is in South America, mostly in Chile. It almost never rains there. Some places do not get rain for many years!The Atacama Desert is very dry, but it is beautiful. There are big areas of sand and rocks, colourful mountains, and shiny salt flats. At night, the sky is so clear that you can see many stars. There are also special plants and animals that live in the desert. People live in the Atacama Desert too. They use solar panels for energy, grow food in greenhouses, and get water from underground.Do you like the beautiful views and starry nights? Now, imagine that you live in the Atacama Desert.
