22In an Indian home, breakfast is a happy time. This morning, the family gathers at the table. There are soft idlis (steamed rice cakes) and crispy dosas (thin, savory pancakes).%u201cDo you want more idlis?%u201d the mother asks, adding some sambar (vegetable stew) to the plates. There's also a bit of coconut chutney for dipping. The kitchen smells wonderful, and everyone enjoys this healthy meal with a cup of tasty filter coffee.Breakfast: A Healthy StartAt noon, lunch is ready. The table is full of traditional Indian dishes. There%u2019s a bowl of dal (lentil soup) and a yummy vegetable curry.%u201cDo you want more rice or a few pieces of paratha (a type of Indian flatbread)?%u201d asks the father. There%u2019s also a fresh salad with cucumbers and tomatoes.Though the meal is mostly healthy, they add a little treat-some crispy papad (lentil wafers).
