21Mrs. Diana said, %u201cLet%u2019s explore Jupiter, the biggest planet in our solar system. It%u2019s huge because it%u2019s a gas giant and it does not have a solid surface. It also has rings, but they%u2019re very hard to see.%u201dCarol asked, %u201cWhy is it so colourful, Mrs. Diana?%u201dMrs. Diana replied, %u201cJupiter has colourful stripes and swirls because these colours come from the gases and particles in the clouds.%u201dCarol asked again, %u201cAre those Jupiter%u2019s moons?%u201dMrs. Diana nodded, %u201cYes, those are some of Jupiter%u2019s moons. It has more than 80.%u201dCarol raised her hand, %u201cMrs. Diana, I heard Jupiter spins really fast. Is that true?%u201dMrs. Diana smiled and nodded, %u201cYou%u2019re absolutely right, Carol! One day on Jupiter goes by in just 10 hours. %u201cThat%u2019s much quicker than on Earth, where a day is 24 hours.%u201dJack asked, %u201cWow, that%u2019s really quick! But what about a year on Jupiter?%u201dMrs. Diana explained, %u201cA year on Jupiter is quite different from Earth. It%u2019s the same as 11.8 Earth years. That%u2019s because Jupiter is far from the Sun, so it takes a long time to complete its orbit around the Sun.%u201dCarol said, %u201cSo, a year on Jupiter is really long, but a day is really short. That%u2019s so interesting!%u201d
